CHATEAU DE SEGRIES

Rhone, France

Third generation family managing 58 hectares of old vines, averaging 80-100 years, 30 of which are in one piece in the heart of the Lirac appellation.  Present on 3 appellations, AOP TAVEL, LIRAC and COTES DU RHONE, grapes are grown on soils of clay-limestone nature, which contribute an essential quality of the harvested wines. These wines are cultivated traditionally. This cultivation reduces yields to favor quality, and uses short-term processes and limited use of traditional fertilizers. Mainly harvested by hand, vinified traditionally, privileging Grenache, Segries wines have body, warmth and roundness.

The PDO  Lirac Rouge  occupies most of the area, 36 hectares (30 are in one piece near the cellar). Small production for AOP  Lirac Blanc. We have kept the old grapes that we pick up at the end of the harvest, an unusual wine. The vineyard in AOP  Tavel  covers 9 hectares. The lands are around the TAVEL village. Finally, the section dedicated to the Côtes du Rhône Red  "Clos Jean Alesi" covers 3.5 hectares in the famous "Chartreuse district" in Villeneuve-les-Avignon. The vineyard belongs since 1995 to the racer on Formula 1 Jean ALESI.
