RAVENTOS i BLANC

Cataluña, Spain

Raventos i Blanc is probably the longest documented family winemaking tradition in the world: 21 generations of the same family working in the same estate; and farming viticulture since 1497, and with the traditional method since 1872.

Since 1947, Josep Maria Raventos i Blanc, who in 1986 created the first terroir Cava with Xarel-o grapes from the estate. Since then, every generation has dedicated itself to vine growing and making fine sparkling wines.

In 2012 we decided that Raventos i Blanc was going to leave the DO Cava with the dream of creating a new DO named Conca del riu Anoia. With the creation of our new denomination, we vindicated the immense potential of its terroir for sparkling wines in one of the world's most historical valleys for viticulture.

Today Raventos i Blanc is 90 Hectares with vineyards, woodland and a lake and remains together, as a single plot, with 44 parcels that the 21st generation farms biodymanically, with the aim to make the best minimal sparkling wine.
