FATTORIA DI LUCIGNANO

Toscana, Italy

The Lucignano farm is set on 150 hectares of hilly land and lies on the stunning ridge between San Casciano Val di Pesa and Montespertoli, about 280 metres above sea level. Geologically the land dates back to the Pliocene, with limestone and clay formations rich in gravel and shingle, which is ideal for growing high quality grape vine and olive tree orchards. The DOCG "Chianti Colli Fiorentini" vineyards and the 5000 olive trees are cultivated on approximately 34 hectares of land. The wine cellars are beneath the imposing Villa, which dates back to the 16 th century. Vitrified cement tanks are used for fermentation and wine ageing. Worthy of mention is the "vinsantaia" for the Vin Santo which is matured and aged 200 litre oak barrels.
