TRES OJOS

Catalyud, Spain

From Bodega San Gregorio - Bodega San Gregorio is managed by a young team of experts with a firm commitment to the future.  They are involved in an on-going updating process, as well as a long-term investment plan with the sole purpose of constantly enhancing the quality and safety of their products. Throughout this process, Bodega San Gregorio strives to retain their own identity: the terroir and the historic characteristics that give their wines a particular and unmistakable style.

Bodega San Gregorio is a cave co-op founded in 1965. It is located in the Ribota River Valley, some 30 kilometers (20 miles) north of the city of Calatayud. It belongs to the Calatayud Designation of Origin, created in 1989, which is becoming increasingly well-known for the high quality of its produce. The winery is committed to cutting-edge technology, its human resources, and to the quality and safety of its products.

The coop cultivates 900 hectares (2,200 acres) of primarily Garnacha (70%) and Tempranillo (20%) with some white Macabeo and other varieties. Most of the vines are at least 40 years old and some are 50+. The vines, planted "en vaso"(head-trained) are not irrigated, offering very low production levels. Local soils are rich in limestone, marl and slate, providing plenty of opportunities to make good wine on a regular basis.
